PlayDead live from the Granada Theatre

Play Dead is an eclectic group of talented musicians who’ve come together to celebrate the remarkable repertoire and live experience of the Grateful Dead. More than what you’d expect from a typical tribute band, this group embraces the foundation of what made the Dead’s sound so unique by creating a landscape of masterful improvisation, rich harmonies and beautiful melodies across all genres of music. Just sit back, crank up the sound and let us bring the music to you. This is a “pay what you want” performance to kick off our new streaming concert series in full HD streaming and broadcast audio. Please help us support our musicians, crew and venue partners.

LAWRENCE, KS

With the creation of PlayDead, LFK musicians Brad Boerger, Joe Comparato, David Cunningham, Michael Hamm, Bradford Hoopes and Kelly White  use their unique and blistering rendition of the Grateful Dead's vast catalog to share the sounds that cross generations. Coming soon to your favorite venue!

Full Bio

Play Dead is comprised of veterans of the Lawrence, Kansas (LFK) music scene with a very diverse background, allowing them the versatility required to deliver a unique presentation of the music of the Grateful Dead. The band does NOT do a theater re-creation of the sound or shows - there are plenty of fantastic bands that already do just that. Instead, Play Dead prefers to let the individual voices shine, the collective ensemble playing their own twist on the incredible songbook of the Grateful Dead.
